A Note From Your New Editor

Hello, my name is Adam, and I am an alcoholic. At the most recent Regional Assembly held online in September 2019, I was elected as your new ArenA Editor, serving the Continental European Region.

I am originally from Iowa, USA but have lived in Germany since 2006. I have been based in Berlin since 2009 where after a long, slow bottom I got sober in March 2017. I am a grateful member of an incredibly enthusiastic and vibrant fellowship here in this beautiful city. Please come and visit us — we are not a glum lot!

I have a sponsor who also has a sponsor, and I have three active sponsees — one has finished the Twelve Steps and the other two are both on their first Fourth Step. Furthermore, I have a service sponsor with whom I am currently working the Twelve Traditions.

I have held nearly all service positions at meeting level. Currently I chair the Tuesday Noon Literature/Speaker Meeting in Prenzlauer Berg. In addition, I am Treasurer for Berlin Intergroup (until April 2020) and have been an active member of the Berlin International Convention planning committee for the past two years. ArenA Editor is my first service position at region level.

Alcoholics Anonymous saved my life and has changed it for the better. I am honored and humbled to be of service to our fellowship and to help inform you of events and pursuits happening in Europe and beyond in our combined efforts to carry the message to the still sick and suffering alcoholic in the day that we are in.
