** CER News **

Hello CER Assembly,

Please see below a couple of important announcements:

  • CER Service Opportunities

CER now has five service opportunities up for election at our next assembly in June. Owing to Yvonne’s recent resignation from the RECLO due to personal reasons (thank you Yvonne for all your service!), the rotation of our Chair and that of our Delegates, the following positions are available.

  • Chair (3 years)
  • Regional Electronic Communications Liasion Officer, RECLO (3 years)
  • 3 x Delegates to Conference (3 years)

These important service positions are required to ensure CER functions effectively and enable us to achieve our aims, and thus active members are now sought to join us in service.

  • The Chair’s key responsibilities include; chairing the assembly and steering committee meetings, setting the assembly agenda, communicating with intergroups, groups and members, and generally ensuring the continued smooth operation of CER.
  • The RECLO’s responsibilities are to ensure that accurate information is available on our website as well as leading our team of online responders and website updaters.
  • Conference Delegates’ responsibilities include attending the annual General Service Conference in York UK, bringing with them the “group conscience” of CER as expressed through responses to the Conference Questions, and reporting back to Region on the outcome.

All interested members are encouraged to submit nominations, along with their service resume, in advance of the assembly. More information, as well as nomination forms, can be found online here.

It is recommended that candidates have a consistent sobriety, a demonstrated commitment to service, a working understanding of the Twelve Traditions and Concepts and familiarity with the AA Structure and Service Handbooks for AA Great Britain. Voting will take place at our next Assembly, and potential candidates are reminded that support from experienced trusted servants, both past and present, is always available.

  • Book your Hostel

A reminder, if you haven’t done so already, to please book your hostel accommodation ASAP for our next quarterly Regional Assembly held in Düsseldorf Germany on the weekend 9th – 10th June 2018. As it is a hostel, room sharing with other members is also possible. More details can be found online here and in the attached invitation.

  • AAmail update

Please see attached the most recent email user guide from GSO concerning the AAmail service. A recent change is that AAmail can now be used with Outlook and other email clients using the IMAP protocol. More details in the attachment.

  • PI Service News

Please find attached PI Service News May 2018, that includes details on the new Conference Approved Posters.

Yours in service,

Matt S., Secretary, CER

“Our Twelfth Step – carrying the message – is the basic service that the AA Fellowship gives; this is our principal aim and the main reason for our existence. Therefore, AA is more than a set of principles; it is a society of alcoholics in action. We must carry the message, else we ourselves can wither and those who haven’t been given the truth may die.” Bill W.
