Open meetings are available to anyone interested in Alcoholics Anonymous’ program of recovery from alcoholism. Nonalcoholics may attend open meetings as observers.
Our AA Meeting, The Enjoying Life Group, meets every Thursday evening at the Scots International Church in Rotterdam. We of the Enjoying Life Group encourage fellowship, so after our AA meetings we go out for tea or coffee, everyone is more than welcome to join us.
The format of our AA Meeting: Every week there is a different format in a four-week rotation.
First week of the month: Speaker Meeting: A member of AA shares his or her experience with the group for 30 minutes. Afterwards the room will be open for sharing.
Second week of the month: Steps Meeting. The group reads about the Step of the month (for example: February being the second month of the year, we read about Step Two of the Alcoholics Anonymous program) from the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous or from the Twelve Steps & Twelve Traditions. Afterwards the room will be open for sharing.
Third week of the month: Tradition Meeting. The groups reads about the Tradition of the month (for example: May being the fifth month of the year, we read about Tradition Five of the Alcoholics Anonymous program) from the book The Twelve Steps & Twelve Traditions. Afterwards the room will be open for sharing.
Fourth week of the month: Prayer and Meditation. The group reads a short text from AA literature about the concepts of prayer and meditation. Then there will be 10 minutes of quiet time, after which the room will be open for sharing.
