ArenA guidelines for contributions
ArenA is an online platform where personal stories and experiences with the 12 Steps, Traditions and Concepts of AA members are posted, as well as service experience and announcements pertaining to the Continental European Region. Once a month, ArenA sends out its latest content via its newsletter.
ArenA brings together individual voices of AA members who share their experiences with Alcoholics Anonymous in a very personal way. It is not a dry collection of facts.
Before you write, check out ArenA and read what kind of articles have already been published. ArenA is looking for articles that relate to the writer’s personal experience of alcoholism and the 12 Steps of AA, as long as they reflect an awareness of AA’s singleness of purpose.
Any sober alcoholic may write an article, and no minimum period of sobriety is required.
Articles may be signed “Anonymous” if preferred, but the original submission to ArenA must be signed.
ArenA publishes articles with a maximum length of 500 words. One-liners are also welcome.
Please don’t promote individual groups or events. Conventions and other AA events can be listed here.
ArenA cannot guarantee to publish or respond to all submissions. Publication is at the discretion of the editorial team.
Payment for submissions is not possible.
ArenA will not publish poems, prayers, song lyrics, tributes to individuals, obituaries, plays, previously published material, or anything unrelated to AA or contrary to AA principles.
All submissions will be reviewed by the ArenA editorial team. The editors select ArenA content based on the principles outlined in the 12 Steps, Traditions and Concepts.
ArenA collects photographs of the Continental European Region. AA members are invited to share their personal photographs for free use on the Alcoholics Anonymous website. Submitted images may appear alongside personal stories and be featured in the ArenA newsletter, distributed monthly.
Only submit photographs you’ve personally taken. Please avoid submitting other people’s images, artwork, or any copyrighted material.
Avoid images with religious, political, or otherwise controversial material.
Submit images in high resolution (e.g., 1080p minimum) in JPEG or PNG format. Low-resolution or blurry images may not be considered.
Submitted images will be shared anonymously. Make sure your image contains no identifiable features or watermarks.
Due to volume, not all submissions will receive a response or be featured. The ArenA editorial team reserves the right to edit, crop, or modify images for website use.
