You’re a member of AA if you say you are. We don’t demand any contribution, neither in time or money.
However, to enjoy all the benefits of AA membership, most members find that sitting on the edges looking at the activities is not enough. Most members want to be active participants in the AA fellowship by being involved in service.
Service can take on several different forms
There are a lot of ways of being of service in AA. All our service work ultimately ensures that we can carry out our primary purpose and help the still-suffering alcoholic (Tradition 5).
One of the reasons that the Continental European Region exists, is to enable English speaking members to do service in countries, where the language barrier might make it difficult for them to do so, or in some cases where there is no local fellowship.
You can find out here how you can get involved in service at the regional level.
