As a long time member of the Continental European Region (CER), I’d like to thank all members of our Fellowship that volunteer to do service whilst on vacation.
We often hear it bandied about that “attending meetings is service.” It becomes reality when you’re on vacation and check your “Where To Find” or the website to find the nearest English Speaking AA meeting.
That effort, you taking time out of your holiday to attend one of the hundreds of meetings withing CER is a breath of fresh air to many groups, especially outside the major tourist destinations.
Small groups, the same 4-6 members meetings week in and out, always welcome a new face.
In my travels, I know how thankful I’ve been to find a meeting just about anywhere I’ve been. What I’ve always taken away from the experience is just how big and encompassing AA is worldwide. It is a humbling and reassuring experience to know that no matter where I go, the hand of AA is there.
In closing, thanking all the members who do service – even on vacation.
